I did a survey in school of how many normal people knew what the world cup is and my results were amazing....?

i got 19 out of 100 people who knew what it was and 17 could name 3 countries in it. 2 people could name four contries and above. how come most americans dont know what it is? also can u answer the survey in the same way if u know what it is and can name 3 or 4 and above countries in it. thanks. by normal i mean non-immigrant.(from 1920-now)

Reply:Oversaturation of sports. This is also in conjunction with the Bonds chase, so the priority of sports in the US is on that, along with the NBA semi final and and the finals. This is not really that surprising.
Reply:americans dont like soccer as much because they are born with there parents who love football and baseball and basketball. americans think soccer is a much more boring sport because sometimes goals are few and far between and in the other sports points are always coming. they dont appreciate pure talent and skill. they prefer players who rely on steroids to make them good. yes i know what it is. brazil, usa, netherlands, czek republic, spain, france, ENGLAND, argentina and 24 others

Countries in it are Brazil, Portugal, Mexico, Argentina, Espana, Costa Rica, England, France, Australia, Ukraine, Ivory Coast, Saudia Arabia, Japan, Italy, Czech Republic, Sweden, Korea South, there are some others in the tourney making the total of 32 Nations participating. Oh yes also the soccer mad country of United States of America.
